Senate Reshuffles Committees: New Chairmen and Deputy Chairmen Appointed
The Nigerian Senate has undergone a significant reshuffle, with new chairmen and deputy chairmen appointed to various committees. This move follows President Bola Tinubu’s approval of bills establishing development commissions across different regions.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio oversaw the reshuffle, which saw the appointment of new leaders to several committees. Some notable appointments include:
North West Development Commission
Senator Babangida Hussaini (Chairman) and Senator Muntari Dandutse (Deputy Chairman)
South East Development Commission
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (Chairman) and Senator Kenneth Eze (Deputy Chairman)
North Central Development Commission
Senator Titus Zam (Chairman) and Senator Isa Jibrin (Deputy Chairman)
Other appointments include Abdul Ningi as the new Chairman of the Senate Committee on FERMA, Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan as the Chairman of the Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisations, and Senator Garba Maidoki as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports Development ¹.
This reshuffle aims to ensure effective oversight and management of the various development commissions. The Senate also extended condolences to the Speaker of the House of Representatives over the passing of former Deputy Majority Whip Oriyomi Onanuga.
