Rivers PDP Acting Excos Vow to Investigate Anti-Party Activities
The Acting Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has pledged to thoroughly investigate alleged cases of anti-party activities involving its members during the 2023 general elections ¹. Disciplinary Panel to be Established
The committee plans to establish a disciplinary panel in the coming days to address issues of anti-party activities. The panel will have the power to recommend sanctions, including suspensions or expulsion from the party, regardless of an individual’s status or influence.
Rebuilding the Party
Acting State Chairman, Robinson Nname-Ewor, emphasized the need to rebuild the party, which was battered during the 2023 elections. He outlined plans to consult with critical stakeholders, unite members, and restore lost hope. The party will also embark on a sensitization tour across the 23 local government areas and initiate a membership drive to boost its population for future elections.
Conditions for Continued Existence
The Acting Executive outlined specific conditions for the continued existence of the PDP in Rivers State. These include the full reinstatement of the party’s leadership in the state under Governor Siminalayi Fubara and recognition of the Acting Executive as the legitimate leadership of the party.
Planned Takeover of PDP State Secretariat Suspended
The Acting Executive had initially planned to take over the PDP State Secretariat at 23 Aba Road on Thursday. However, the plan was suspended to prevent any potential crisis in the state, following advice from security agencies.
