CROSS RIVER STATE APC STATE CHAIRMAN BARR. EBA, SECURED NEW APPOINTMENT.

President Tinubu has appointed Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba, the APC Chairman for Cross River State, as the Chair of the Governing Board of the Rubber Research Institute in Benin. This appointment comes as the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) includes him in a seven-member Constitution Review Committee (CRC).

The proverb “the reward for hard work is more work” rings true for one of Nigeria’s most dynamic state chairmen. One year after leading other state chairmen to seek recognition from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their contributions to the party, the President has honored his commitment by appointing all 36 APC state chairmen, including that of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.

Today, Barr. Eba and his fellow chairmen were officially received by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for the documentation and handover of their appointment letters.

Furthermore, during the NEC meeting on February 26, 2025, Barr. Eba was nominated as the sole representative for the South-South geopolitical zone on the seven-member Constitution Review Committee. His appointment was confirmed with a signed letter from the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The Constitution Review Committee includes:

1. H.E. Mai Mala Buni, Governor of Yobe State (Chairman)
2. H.E. Abdullahi Sule, Governor of Nasarawa State (Member)
3. H.E. Prof. Babagana Umaru Zulum, Governor of Borno State (Member)
4. H.E. Aminu Bello Masari, Former Governor of Katsina State/Former Speaker of the House of Reps (Member)
5. Sen. Michael Bamidele Opeyemi, Leader of the Nigerian Senate (Member)
6. Hon. Mariam Onuoha, Member of the House of Reps from Abia State (Member)
7. Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba, APC Chairman, Cross River State (Member)

The National Legal Adviser, Prof. Kana SAN, will serve as the Secretary of the Committee.

Upon receiving his appointment letter, an elated Barr. Eba presented it to Cross River State Governor, His Excellency Sen. Bassey Otu, who congratulated him on this significant recognition and praised his leadership.

In his response, Barr. Eba expressed gratitude to God and appreciation to President Tinubu for entrusting him with a role on a federal board in the agriculture sector, which he is passionate about. He also acknowledged the support of Governor Otu and Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey for their backing in his leadership journey.

Furthermore, Eba thanked former Governor Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, who played a pivotal role in his rise as party chairman, and expressed appreciation for his family and supporters. He reflected on his late father and friend, who would have been proud to witness this achievement.

Eba committed to using his position to enhance the potential of rubber, gum Arabic, and other sectors, underscoring their significance to Nigeria’s economy beyond oil.
