2027 Elections: Udoedehe Wins ADC Governorship Ticket, Pat Akpabio Clinches Senate Slot in Akwa Ibom
The African Democratic Congress has finalized key tickets in Akwa Ibom State ahead of the 2027 general elections. Senator James John Udoedehe secured the ADC governorship ticket, while Princess Pat Akpabio emerged as the party’s candidate for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.
Announced on Sunday, May 25, 2026, Udoedehe won the governorship primary with a landslide 66,099 votes. His closest challenger, Barr Mfon Peters, polled 103 votes.
In the senatorial race, Princess Pat Akpabio — sister-in-law to Senate President Godswill Akpabio — won the Akwa Ibom North West ticket with 21,326 votes.

John Elijah, Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, announced the results and praised party members for conducting peaceful and orderly primaries across the state. He said he’s optimistic ADC candidates will win at the general polls in 2027.
In his acceptance speech, Udoedehe thanked ADC members for the mandate. The former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory said he joined the race to “salvage Akwa Ibom State.”
He positioned ADC as the real opposition party ready to entrench accountability and end “sprinkled daily bread” policies. Udoedehe slammed the current levels of unemployment, poverty, and inequality in the state, promising his administration would tackle them head-on.
“We are coming to give Akwa Ibom people an alternative government, building them from sprinkled daily bread policy to affluence,” Udoedehe declared.
Speaking for other ADC candidates, Princess Akpabio said she entered the race to win, not to “romance anybody’s ego.”
She urged Akwa Ibom residents to take advantage of the Continuous Voters Registration exercise to get their Permanent Voter Cards before 2027.
“I believe in change and we are capable to make the change. We are not here to massage anyone, our aim is to make a better Nigeria and better Akwa Ibom,” she said.
itself as Akwa Ibom’s accountability option for 2027. With Udoedehe promising to tackle poverty and Pat Akpabio pushing a “win, not romance” message, the party is setting up a direct challenge to the status quo.
