Unity is Key: ADC’s Path to Defeating APC in 2027
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is at a crossroads, and its leaders must decide whether to unite and work towards a common goal or risk implosion due to internal power struggles. Mallam Salihu Lukman, a chieftain of the ADC, has appealed to party bigwigs, including former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, to put aside their differences and work towards defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
Lukman warned that the ADC’s internal power struggles, particularly over control of party structures, could weaken the opposition and make it difficult to defeat the APC. He noted that the same power tussle that led to the bid to oust former Senate President David Mark as national chairman of the ADC is already manifesting in Kaduna State.
Lukman stressed that the ADC must agree to work together if it hopes to emerge as a strong party capable of defeating the APC in Kaduna State. He appealed to El-Rufai and other party leaders to resist the temptation of backing aspirants bent on capturing the ADC structures for selfish ends.
The former APC chieftain emphasized the importance of collective leadership in producing a government controlled by the ADC. He warned that without unity, the party risks repeating the mistakes of traditional parties that were reduced to electoral platforms for power-hungry politicians.
The ADC’s success in the 2027 elections depends on its ability to unite and work towards a common goal. By putting aside their differences and focusing on collective leadership, the party can build a strong foundation and produce a government that truly represents the people. As Lukman aptly put it, “It is only if we are united in ADC that we can be able to unite our people in the state to defeat the APC in 2027.”
