SGF Akume Advises Northern Politicians to Wait Until 2031 for Presidential Aspirations
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has urged northern politicians to shelve their presidential ambitions until 2031. Speaking at a two-day Interactive Session on Government-citizens’ Engagement in Kaduna, Akume emphasized that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has made significant progress in developing the country.
Akume’s advice is based on his perception of Tinubu’s achievements, which he believes will continue to benefit citizens and the country. He encouraged northern politicians not to join forces against the president, citing the positive impact of Tinubu’s policies on all parts of the country. This advice may influence the political calculations of northern politicians, particularly those with presidential aspirations. By urging them to wait until 2031, Akume is effectively suggesting that they focus on supporting the current administration rather than pursuing immediate power grabs.Akume’s statement highlights the complex dynamics of Nigerian politics, where regional and party interests often intersect. As the country navigates its democratic journey, such advice can shape the political landscape and potentially impact future elections .
