PDP Warns Members Against Endorsing Tinubu’s 2027 Bid

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned its members against endorsing President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027, warning that such actions are a direct violation of the party’s constitution. The PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) reviewed the anti-party activities of certain members, particularly those supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The party warned of consequences for further disloyalty, invoking disciplinary measures outlined in its constitution. According to Section 10(6) of the PDP Constitution, no member shall align with other parties or groups to undermine the party or its elected government. The NWC called for renewed focus and unity among party members, especially with the upcoming National Convention scheduled for November 15-16, 2025, in Ibadan. The party urged members to remain loyal and work towards the convention’s success. The warning follows a high-profile endorsement of President Tinubu by the Osun State PDP leadership caucus, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke. The endorsement has sparked speculation about Adeleke’s political future and potential defection to the APC.
