NNPP Urges INEC to Reject Kwankwaso-Led Congresses

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disregard the purported congresses by the Kwankwasiya Movement led by Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. The party described the move as unconstitutional and an attempt to hijack the party

The NNPP stated that it had already held and concluded its court-ordered congresses, and therefore, the Kwankwaso-led group cannot conduct congresses on its behalf. The party also noted that the Memorandum of Association entered into with it in the build-up to the 2023 presidential election had long expired

The NNPP reminded INEC that Kwankwaso and some members of the Kwankwasiya group were expelled from the party for anti-party activities. The party urged INEC to live up to its responsibilities by obeying court orders and uploading the authentic leadership of the party on its website

The NNPP called on INEC to distance itself from disobedience to the rule of law and order of society. The party expressed disappointment that INEC had not responded to its letters demanding that judgments of the courts be obeyed and respected

The NNPP’s call on INEC to reject the Kwankwaso-led congresses highlights the ongoing internal crisis within the party. The party’s leadership is determined to assert its authority and ensure that the rule of law is upheld. INEC’s response to this situation will be crucial in determining the future of the NNPP
