Labour Party’s Julius Abure Attacked at Abuja Airport

The Labour Party has condemned the physical attack on its National Chairman, Julius Abure, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Abure was allegedly assaulted by Precious Oruche, also known as Mama P, a content creator, while waiting to board a flight to Benin.

According to the Labour Party’s spokesperson, Obiora Ifoh, Mama P suddenly attacked Abure while he was in line, and the confrontation continued onboard the flight, despite attempts by flight attendants to intervene. The assault persisted even after the plane landed in Benin, with Mama P recording the scene.

The Labour Party has accused “anti-democratic elements” of sponsoring the attack and has expressed outrage over the incident. Security operatives intervened to whisk Abure to safety, while Mama P was handed over to the police.

This incident comes amid a backdrop of internal conflicts within the Labour Party, particularly following a Supreme Court judgment that has sparked differing interpretations regarding Abure’s leadership. The party has been embroiled in disputes over the legitimacy of Abure’s tenure as National Chairman .
