APC’s New Chairman: A Strategic Move for 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Yilwatda Nentawe, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, as its new national chairman. This development comes less than two years before the 2027 general elections, and it’s seen as a strategic move to consolidate the party’s grip on power.

The APC’s National Executive Committee approved the zoning of the national chairman position to the North Central geopolitical zone, paving the way for Nentawe’s emergence. The party also shuffled its leadership, nominating new officials for key positions, including the national legal adviser and deputy national secretary.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is positioning itself to reclaim the presidency in 2027. Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed are reportedly leading the charge, and the party is expected to unveil new strategies to win over the electorate.

The appointment of Nentawe as APC chairman and the PDP’s power takeover plot set the stage for a fierce battle in the 2027 general elections. Both parties are gearing up for a closely contested race, and their strategies will be crucial in determining the outcome.
