APC Clarifies Presidential Ticket Aspirations: Tinubu Endorsement Doesn’t Mean Sole Candidacy

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has made it clear that despite the widespread endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term, the party’s presidential ticket remains open to all interested members. APC’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Mohammad Argungu, stated that the party would not deny any aspirant the chance to challenge Tinubu for the ticket in a free and open primary election.

Argungu emphasized that the APC is committed to democratic principles and would allow all interested members to purchase expression of interest and nomination forms to exercise their franchise. He noted that the party’s endorsement of Tinubu’s re-election bid is a recognition of his outstanding performance, but it doesn’t mean that the door is closed to other aspirants.

The APC’s position ensures that the party’s presidential ticket will be determined through a competitive primary election, where all interested members can participate. This approach upholds the principles of democracy and allows the party to select its candidate through a fair and transparent process.

The APC’s clarification is a significant development for aspirants who may be interested in vying for the presidential ticket. It means that they can explore their options and participate in the primary elections without any restrictions.

What do you think about the APC’s decision to keep the presidential ticket open to all aspirants? Should other parties adopt a similar approach?
