ADC Slams Fake News on INEC Confirmation
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has denied reports circulating in some media outlets claiming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed its list of state chairmen across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. ADC’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the report as “fake news” designed to create confusion within the party .
Abdullahi clarified that INEC has not issued any official or unofficial confirmation of the party’s state chairmen. He emphasized that the ratification of state leadership is an internal party process governed by the ADC’s constitution. INEC will only recognize submissions made through proper channels after due diligence .
According to Abdullahi, INEC’s recognition of the party’s leadership is based on submissions made through appropriate channels. As of now, no comprehensive list of state chairmen has been submitted or confirmed by INEC. This development highlights the importance of verifying information through official channels to avoid spreading misinformation .
In a related development, INEC recently recognized David Mark as the national chairman of the ADC, along with other national officers, including Rauf Aregbesola as national secretary. This recognition came after the party complied with INEC’s guidelines for leadership changes .
