Peter Obi Declares 2027 Presidential Bid, Rejects VP Role

Peter Obi, a key figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the 2027 presidential election. Obi made this declaration while campaigning for ADC candidates in the Federal Capital Territory’s Area Council elections, emphasizing his determination to vie for the top position .

 

According to Obi, success in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election is crucial to his wider political aspirations. He urged party faithful and local residents to support the ADC candidate, stressing that his involvement in the elections is as a leading contender, not in a supporting capacity .

Obi’s supporters, particularly members of the Obidient Movement, are pressuring the ADC leadership to adopt him as the party’s standard-bearer for 2027. Many insist that the ticket should be his alone. However, the ADC is also hosting other high-profile politicians with presidential ambitions, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi .

Obi expressed confidence in his ability to lead, citing his experience and achievements. He emphasized that he would not settle for a subordinate role in the party’s long-term strategy, stating, “I am involved and contesting the coming election as number one”.

With Obi’s declaration, the 2027 presidential election is shaping up to be a closely contested race. As the ADC prepares to unveil its candidate, Obi’s supporters will be eager to see if he can secure the 2027 presidential election.
