Insecurity in Nigeria: PDP Tells Tinubu to Seek Help or Resign
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to either seek help or resign, citing the government’s inability to manage the worsening security crisis in the country. The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, made this statement at a press conference in Abuja, highlighting the recent abductions of students in Kebbi, Niger, and worshipers in Kwara States
Ememobong emphasized that the security of lives and property is the primary function of any government. He noted that if the government is unwilling, unable, or incapable of executing this role, it must either ask for help or resign. The PDP’s call to action comes amid growing concerns over the government’s response to insecurity in the country
The PDP faulted the government’s decision to close schools in response to the abductions, describing it as “surrendering to terrorists.” Ememobong also criticized the President’s response to the situation, saying it was slow, unempathetic, and politically motivated. Instead of visiting the affected areas and meeting with parents of the abducted children, the President directed the Minister of State for Defence to relocate to Kebbi
The PDP’s call for the government to seek help or resign is a wake-up call for the authorities to take decisive action to address the security crisis. The government must prioritize the safety and security of citizens and take concrete steps to prevent further abductions and attacks
