PDP’s Turaki Seeks Trump’s Help as Party’s Crisis Worsens

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a dramatic turn as its newly elected National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki, appeals to United States President Donald Trump and the international community for intervention in Nigeria’s worsening political situation. Turaki warned that the nation’s democracy is “under threat” amid an escalating internal crisis within the party .

The PDP’s internal crisis erupted into chaos in Abuja as rival factions clashed at the party’s national secretariat. The confrontation led to police firing teargas to disperse the agitated supporters. Turaki accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of leading armed thugs with police support to disrupt party activities .

In a passionate plea, Turaki called on President Trump to intervene in Nigeria’s political situation, stating, “What is at stake is not just genocide against Christians; he should come and save democracy in Nigeria. Democracy is under threat. I am calling all other developed nations, all advanced democracies, come and save Nigeria.” He emphasized that his faction is willing to lay down their lives to protect the party’s mandate and Nigeria’s democracy .
