110 Associations Seek Registration as Political Parties with INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received letters of intent from 110 associations seeking registration as political parties. This development marks a significant step in the democratic process, allowing new parties to potentially participate in future elections.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, assured that the commission is diligently processing the requests in accordance with relevant laws and guidelines. All applications received have been acknowledged, with the exception of six recent submissions that will be processed shortly.
As the applications are reviewed, INEC will ensure that all requirements are met before granting registration to eligible parties. This process will help shape the political landscape and provide opportunities for new voices to be heard.
