PTAD Disburses ₦3.9bn Pension Arrears to 91,146 Retirees

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has completed the payment of the ₦3.9 billion pension arrears to 91,146 eligible pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme. The payment is part of the ₦32,000 increment approved by President Bola Tinubu.

The breakdown of the payments is as follows:

– ₦1.9 billion to 59,865 pensioners under the Parastatals Pension Department
– ₦830 million to 12,976 pensioners under the Civil Service Pension Department
– ₦620 million to 9,689 pensioners under the Police Pension Department
– ₦551 million to 8,616 pensioners under the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, and Prisons Pension Department

The Executive Secretary of PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to settling all outstanding arrears and improving pensioners’ welfare under the Renewed Hope Agenda. This payment brings relief to thousands of pensioners who have been waiting for their arrears.

The payment of pension arrears is a significant step towards ensuring the financial security of retirees. PTAD’s efforts to clear the backlog of pension payments are commendable, and it is hoped that the agency will continue to prioritize the welfare of pensioners.
