President Tinubu to Visit Benue State Amid Ongoing Crisis
In a bid to promote peace and address the persistent conflict in Benue State, President Bola Tinubu has announced his plans to visit the state on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. This development comes after a series of violent attacks and killings in the region, which have resulted in significant loss of life and property.
According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the President’s visit aims to assess the situation firsthand and meet with stakeholders to find lasting solutions to the hostilities. During his visit, Tinubu will hold a town hall meeting with traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, community leaders, and youth groups.
In preparation for the visit, President Tinubu has already dispatched key officials to Benue State, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, and heads of intelligence agencies. This demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing the crisis and promoting peace in the region.
Initially, President Tinubu was scheduled to visit Kaduna State on Wednesday to commission various state government projects. However, this visit has been rescheduled to Thursday, June 19, 2025, to accommodate the President’s trip to Benue State.
The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for the President to engage with the local community and stakeholders, listen to their concerns, and work towards finding sustainable solutions to the conflict.
