President Tinubu Orders Crackdown on Benue Killings

President Bola Tinubu has directed the country’s service chiefs and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to apprehend those responsible for the recent killings in Benue State. The President issued the order during his visit to Benue State, where scores of people have been killed and many others severely injured in renewed attacks.

During a stakeholders meeting at the Benue Government House in Makurdi, Tinubu expressed concern over the lack of arrests made so far, urging the security agencies to be more proactive. “Let’s get those criminals, let’s get them out,” he said, emphasizing the need for tangible intelligence to prevent future attacks.

The President’s directive highlights the government’s commitment to addressing the security challenges in Benue State. By tasking the security agencies to retool their information channels and stay alert, Tinubu aims to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore peace in the region.

The meeting, which included the Chief of Defence Staff, the Inspector General of Police, and other security officials, underscores the importance of collaboration and coordination in tackling security challenges. By working together, the government and security agencies can develop effective strategies to combat violence and ensure the safety of citizens.
