Nigerian Army Launches Raid on Abia Community, Recovers Weapons and Cash

The Nigerian Army has launched a successful operation in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area of Abia State, dismantling a camp allegedly belonging to the Eastern Security Network (ESN). The raid, which was led by the unit commander and supported by armored personnel carriers and vehicles, resulted in the recovery of weapons and cash.

According to a special situation report from 144 Battalion (Rear), the operation was launched in the early hours of May 23, following actionable intelligence on the presence of an ESN stronghold in the Ebubengwa/Abayi Nchokoro community. The raid involved six platoons of 49 soldiers each, who were supported by one armored personnel carrier (APC), a gun truck, and six Hilux vehicles.

Unfortunately, one soldier was killed during the operation. However, the troops were able to recover weapons and cash from the militants’ camp. The outcome of the operation is seen as a significant victory for the Nigerian Army in its efforts to combat militancy in the region.
