NANS President Sues Over Alleged Abduction and Torture
Atiku Abubakar Isah, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has filed a lawsuit against Seyi Tinubu, the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Director of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). Isah alleges abduction and torture and is seeking N38.3 billion in damages.
The lawsuit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, claims that Isah’s fundamental human rights have been violated. He is requesting that the court issue an order enforcing his rights and awarding him damages for the alleged mistreatment.
Isah’s detention and the subsequent lawsuit have raised concerns about human rights and the rule of law in Nigeria. The case is being closely watched, and its outcome could have significant implications for the protection of human rights in the country.
The court will likely hear the case and determine whether Isah’s rights were indeed violated. If the court rules in Isah’s favor, it could lead to significant consequences for the defendants and potentially set a precedent for future human rights cases.
