Today marks a new chapter of progress for the residents of Cross River State as the Governor His Excellency Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu officially flagoff the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, starting in Cross River State!

The Governor who represent the President, His Excellency Sen Bola Ahmed Tinubu, referred to the highway as a “corridor of prosperity,” emphasizing its significance as a bold step toward the future prosperity. He noted that it will reestablish Calabar’s maritime heritage, enhance trade, create employment opportunities, and connect the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone to both national and international markets.

“This is not merely a road; it serves as an economic lifeline for the South-South region,” the Governor remarked.

The project involves a 65–70 km route, with 38 km situated in Cross River, linking the state to Akwa Ibom and other areas in the South/East and South/South regions. It will feature dual carriageways and accommodate future railway developments.

Governor Otu praised President Tinubu for his inclusive leadership and acknowledged the Federal Ministry of Works and HiTech Construction for promptly mobilizing to the site without requiring initial funding.
