Federal Government Closes Case Against Nnamdi Kanu
The Federal Government has concluded its case against Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), after presenting five witnesses. Kanu faces an eight-count charge of terrorism at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The fifth and final witness, an officer of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja, testified about leading a team to gather records of activities in the southern region between 2020 and 2021. The witness highlighted a report detailing the loss of lives among security personnel during the EndSARS protest.
According to the report, a total of 128 policemen, 137 army officers, and 10 DSS officers lost their lives during the specified period. The witness’s testimony aimed to support the government’s allegations against Kanu.
With the government’s case now closed, the court will likely proceed with the defense’s presentation of its case. Kanu’s legal team will have the opportunity to present their arguments and witnesses to counter the allegations.
The conclusion of the government’s case marks a significant development in the ongoing trial. As the legal proceedings continue, the court will carefully consider the evidence presented by both sides to reach a verdict.
