EFCC Cracks Down on Illegal Mining: 8 Suspects Arrested in Ogun

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested eight individuals, including two Chinese nationals and six Nigerians, for alleged involvement in illegal mining activities in Ogun State. The arrests were made during a sting operation on May 9, 2025, in the Ogere area of the state.

The arrested individuals include:Two Chinese nationals:Zhang Hang Lin and Gao Pei Hai
Six Nigerians:Matthew Mathias, Oluwaseun Amoo, Wasiu Ademola Alao, Ajibola Nurudeen, Ibrahim Yinusa, and Saidu Shuaibu

The EFCC’s operation was carried out following credible intelligence and detailed surveillance about the suspects’ activities. The anti-graft agency’s efforts to combat illegal mining and other economic crimes are ongoing.
