A Call for Peaceful Protest: Reducing the Duration and Amplifying the Message

As the #EndBadGovernance protests gain momentum, lawyer Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has urged organizers to reduce the protest duration to one or three days. This appeal comes amidst concerns about potential violence and disruptions. Adegboruwa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, acknowledges the protesters’ courage and the government’s desperation to abort the protests.

He emphasizes the importance of peaceful and orderly protests, conducted in designated locations, and encourages engagement with the government to address the raised issues. Adegboruwa offers to facilitate dialogue and advocates for immediate action from the government.

Furthermore, he warns security agencies against using force, arbitrary arrests, and military deployment, emphasizing the right to peaceful protests. He also advises President Tinubu to reverse policies that have crippled the economy and to end wastage and lavish spending by government functionaries.

This appeal for a peaceful and focused protest highlights the need for constructive dialogue and meaningful action to address the grievances of the Nigerian people. Will the protesters heed this call, and can the government respond with tangible solutions?”
