Whistleblower Arrested: DSS Detains NELMCO Senior Staff Member

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Nene Lily Emeya, Senior Manager of Risk Management at the Nigerian Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO). Emeya was taken into custody after demanding an investigation into the alleged forgery of her signature on official court documents and challenging the company’s Managing Director, Mojoyinoluwa Dekalu-Thomas, over alleged misconduct.

According to sources, Emeya was arrested by DSS operatives at her office on Monday morning, just hours before she was scheduled to appear before an internal disciplinary panel. This move has raised concerns about the potential silencing of a whistleblower.

Emeya had openly challenged Dekalu-Thomas over several infractions, leading to a query being issued against her. She responded to the query and was set to face a disciplinary panel when the arrest occurred.

The arrest of Emeya has sparked interest and concern about the handling of internal disputes and allegations of misconduct within NELMCO. The circumstances surrounding her detention will likely be closely scrutinized.
