What is effective parenting?

This part will be talking about effective parenting but before we continue let us look at what is effective parenting. I will explain what is “effective” and “parenting” and then I will combine the two to form an intended meaning. Effective simply means producing intended results and parenting involves the process of training a child to combine the two words. You can say that effective parenting can be defined as a process of bringing up a child or children in the way you wanted him/her or them to grow.

  Effective parenting is responsible for the kinds of children we have in society, the way you bring up a child or your children determines who they grow to be in their lifetime. It makes a child well-spoken and makes him or her receive the right teaching that makes him or her the best version he or she can be in his or her lifetime.

Importance of good parenting

Effective parenting is too important to be neglected, just as earlier mentioned the caliber of people we have in society, and all the areas of life depend on how they were brought up.

 And this is not just in society but even in their personal lives, the way they were brought up or cared for is a function of how they talk, relate with others, perform and do other life activities.

 Let us, therefore, look at some of the importance of effective parenting;

NOTE: The below list is not signed as the only importance of effective parenting

  1. Academic excellence

When a child or children are well cared for or have good parenting care research had shown that they do better in school, children can perform well in school if they are helped by their parent(s) to do their homework, helping do some of the school activities like teaching them to read, write and talk however this can only be achieved through good parenting.

 Apart from that, effective parenting is not just caring for your kids or children but it also involves being available to inculcate good training in them, if a child is well trained or disciplined at home even at school he does well. A child can learn how to respect his or her teacher at school if he or she is told at home to do so.

When we are talking about the importance of effective parenting about your child’s academic performance we do not limit it to having a good result but the way they act, the way they relate with others, and the way they interact with their teachers as well as their interaction with other students and the way they generally behave in school. Sometimes when a child is not conducting well at school they are likely asked “is that how they train you at home?”

  1. Self-Development

Self-development is the gradual process of building one’s character, skills, and abilities. Effective parenting helps in building a child with good character and manners, it also helps a child to be responsible and productive. Good parenting makes a child focused and can perform better in his or her skills.

 Effective parenting provides the most intimate context for the caring and protection of children as they grow their personalities and identities and also as they mature spiritually, physically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially when a child is not nurtured well it affects the out being of that child.

 When parents neglect their duties of bringing them up in a good way they tend to be useless in society.

  1. Good children

Most importantly, good parenting helps a child to be outstanding in society it helps the child to be well-spoken of in Society, and it makes them different from other children if you discipline your child if you care for your child well they perform better in the society than other children this is the more reason why you should focus on giving your children good parenting.

 Just as earlier said before parenting care determines the kind of children we have in society if a society is filled up with wayward children it means that the parenting in that particular Society is not good it means parents in that Society has failed in their functions because the good children And well behaved children we have can only come out as a result of good parenting care.

  1. Societal Development.

Societal development can only be achieved effectively through good parenting care without good parenting care societal development could be a threat because it is impossible to have a community developed when the people and the occupants of the society themselves are not raised in a good way, for us to have a society with development then we must be able to raise and train up our children in that very way.

Effective good parenting tips

We spend time explaining and looking at the importance of effective parenting so now we’ll be looking at some good parenting tips.

This includes but is not limited to;

1. Believes in your kids (Boost Your Child’s Self-Esteem)

Don’t make your kids feel inferior because they may think that they are nothing causing an inferior complex to set in.  so we advise parents to boost their children’s self-esteem to make them understand that they are not less than what they were made of,

  1. Catch Kids Being Good.

Always tell your kids to do what is good and keep advising them to follow people who are good and avoid anything that is not all good. Let them know the disadvantages of doing what is wrong and let them know the advantages of what is right.

3. Set Boundaries and let them know what you want and not.

It is good for parents to set limits at which their children do things, regulate and limit the level at which they speak, the kind of words they use, the kind of jokes they make, the kind of places they go, the kind of movies they watch and the kind of content they consume.

When should you start giving rules to your children?

 A lot of parents forget this fact and they allow their children to grow up to a certain level that they can no longer control before they start telling them what to do or not. As soon as your child starts understanding some things, set limits for them, if your child has started speaking, set limits for him or her on the kind of words or sentences he or she makes, if he or she has started going to places tell him or her the places they should go or not. This is very important!

4. Make Time for Your Kids

Find time to be off schedule, and spend time with your children because this is the only way you can know who they are as well as they can also know you. Spending time with your kids helps you to monitor what they hear from them and make them feel the presence of their parents.

5. Be an Example parent

More than words, children seem to do what they see their parents do. They follow the example of their parents. This is why you should be more concerned about the kind of life as a parent you live. Don’t do what if you see your children do you won’t be happy, trained by example.

6. Maintain good communication skills.

Cultivate good communicative skills, because speaking to your children is the only way you can know your children better.
