VICE CHAIRMEN LAUD COMMISSIONER IDEM, REAFFIRM LOYALTY TO GOVERNOR OTU

The Forum of Vice Chairmen in Cross River State has passed a vote of confidence on the *Honourable Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Chief Felix Idem,* and by extension on the Executive Governor of Cross River State, *His Excellency, Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu* , for their role in strengthening grassroots governance.

The delegates, led by the Forum Chairperson, *Hon. Princess Christiana Eso* , described *Chief Felix Idem* as a bridge-builder whose efforts have repositioned the Office of the Vice Chairman, making it functional and productive. They noted that this marks a clear departure from past administrations where the office was largely perceived as redundant.

Speaking on behalf of the Forum, Hon. Eso stated:
“We have come to appreciate you for your capacity in delivering the ‘People First’ mantra of our dear Governor. And as a Forum, we hereby pass a vote of confidence on you.”

During the meeting, most of the Vice Chairmen also took turns to speak, each appreciating Chief Felix Idem for his inclusive approach and for recognizing their contributions to local governance. They stressed that his leadership has given them both relevance and responsibility in driving development at the grassroots.

Specifically, the National Representative of the Forum, Hon. Patricia Iya of Odukpani Local Government Area, appreciated Chief Felix Idem for his time and efforts at the last NEC meeting, which was hosted for the very first time in Cross River State. She attributed the success of the event to the support of His Excellency, Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, which, according to her, was clearly seen and felt through the active role of the Honourable Commissioner.

In his response, Chief Felix Idem expressed gratitude to the Forum and conveyed the Governor’s satisfaction with their performance. He said:
“His Excellency, Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, is impressed with the performance of the Vice Chairmen so far. Your active participation, especially your contributions during the last National Sports Festival, has not gone unnoticed. I also appreciate the way you are working diligently with your respective Chairmen to strengthen governance at the grassroots.”

The Forum emphasized that their vote of confidence is not only an expression of loyalty but also a call to deepen their partnership with the Ministry of Local Government Affairs in advancing development across all Local Government Areas. They pledged to continue translating the Governor’s People First agenda into tangible benefits for communities at the grassroots.
