University of Jos Student Arrested for Alleged Murder and Burial of Colleague

The Plateau State Police Command has apprehended a 23-year-old student of the University of Jos, David Nanpon Timmap, for allegedly killing and burying his colleague, Peter Mata Mafurai, in a shallow grave inside his room. The incident occurred at Rusau village in Jos North Local Government Area.

According to sources, Timmap, a 300-level student, attacked and matcheted Mafurai to death in his residence. The police received a distress call at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and promptly dispatched a team of officers to the scene, leading to Timmap’s arrest. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had buried the deceased in a shallow grave dug inside his room.

The victim’s remains have been exhumed and deposited at Bingham University Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy. Timmap is currently in custody as the police continue their investigation to determine the motive behind the alleged murder. The University of Jos community is likely to be shaken by this tragic incident, and many are calling for justice to be served .
