Tragedy in Kano: Senior Students Allegedly Kill Junior Classmates

The Kano State Government has launched a full-scale investigation into the deaths of two students at Government Boarding Secondary School, Bichi. Hamza Idris Tofawa and Umar Yusuf Dungurawa, both students at the school, were allegedly assaulted by senior students using improvised metal objects known as “Gwale-Gwale” .

The state government has vowed to leave no stone unturned in uncovering the truth behind the tragic incident. Twelve suspects have been arrested so far, and the police have assured that all those found culpable will face prosecution. The investigation is ongoing, with the government promising to ensure justice is served .

The State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, has directed a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Bashir Baffa Muhammad, visited the school and cautioned students against taking the law into their own hands .        The families of the deceased have appealed for justice, with relatives expressing devastation over the news. Malam Idris Garba Tofawa, father of late Hamza Idris, urged authorities to act decisively and bring the perpetrators to book ¹.

The Kano State Government’s investigation aims to uncover the truth behind the tragic incident and the community to come together to prevent such incidents in the future. The government has emphasized the importance of students reporting any concerns to school authorities rather than taking matters into their own hands.
