The Kano State Government has launched a full-scale investigation into the deaths of two students at Government Boarding Secondary School, Bichi. Hamza Idris Tofawa and Umar Yusuf Dungurawa, both students at the school, were allegedly assaulted by senior students using improvised metal objects known as “Gwale-Gwale” .

Twelve suspects have been arrested so far, and the police have assured that all those found culpable will face prosecution. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Bashir Baffa Muhammad, visited the school and cautioned students against taking the law into their own hands . The families of the deceased have appealed for justice, with relatives expressing devastation over the news. Malam Idris Garba Tofawa, father of late Hamza Idris, urged authorities to act decisively and bring the perpetrators to book ¹.
