According to reports, the suspect, Abubakar Ijidai, ambushed his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend, Lami Azuba, and her mother, Hauwa Azuba, 38, while they were working on their farm. The attacker used a machete to inflict serious injuries on both women before fleeing the scene.
The victims were rushed to the General Hospital in Lassa, where Hauwa Azuba was pronounced dead on arrival. Her daughter, Lami, was referred to the General Hospital in Mubi, Adamawa State, for further treatment due to the severity of her injuries.
The community is calling for swift justice, and the police are working to apprehend the suspect for diligent prosecution. The body of the deceased was released to the family for burial in accordance with Christian rites.
