Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Office Unsealed After Six-Month Suspension
The National Assembly has unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, after a six-month suspension. The office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was locked since March 6, 2025, following her suspension from the Senate .
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March for alleged misconduct during a protest against the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The suspension barred her from participating in Senate activities for six months. However, in July, a Federal High Court in Abuja ruled that the suspension was “excessive and unconstitutional,” affirming her right to resume parliamentary activities .
On September 23, 2025, the Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji, removed the red seal from the office door, declaring, “I, Alabi Adedeji, Deputy Director, Sergeant-at-Arms, hereby unseal the office. The office is hereby unsealed. Thank you.” The unsealing of her office marks a significant step toward her potential return to legislative duties .
Although her office has been unsealed, it’s unclear whether Akpoti-Uduaghan has regained full access to the National Assembly premises. The Senate has not issued a resolution confirming her reinstatement, and her status will likely be clarified when lawmakers reconvene for plenary on October 7 .
