Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Defects to APC

In a shocking move, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The governor made the announcement at a stakeholders meeting held at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday .

According to Fubara, his decision to defect was prompted by the PDP’s failure to protect him during the recent political crisis in the state. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support and stated that the APC would provide the necessary protection and stability for him to effectively govern the state .

Fubara’s defection is seen as a significant boost to the APC’s influence in the South-South region. The move comes after 17 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly defected to the APC, shifting the balance of power in the legislature. After defecting to the APC, Fubara pledged to support President Tinubu’s second-term bid and work towards the progress of Rivers State. He emphasized the need for stable governance and aligning with partners who support the state’s development .
