President Tinubu Nominates New Leadership for NERC

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). Alongside Ramat, the President has also nominated Mr. Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner for Finance and Management Services .

About the Nominees

Abdullahi Ramat:A 39-year-old electrical engineer and administrator with a PhD in Strategic Management. His qualifications and experience make him a strong candidate to lead NERC.
Abubakar Yusuf:Nominated as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, Yusuf is expected to bring his expertise to protect consumer interests in the electricity sector.
Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun:As Commissioner for Finance and Management Services, Animashun’s experience will be crucial in managing NERC’s finances and ensuring effective service delivery .

The nominations are subject to Senate confirmation. Until the new chairman is confirmed, the current acting chairman will continue to hold his position .

The new leadership is expected to bring fresh perspectives and ideas to improve the electricity sector in Nigeria. With the right leadership, NERC can effectively regulate the industry, ensure consumer protection, and promote sustainable development .
