North-Central APC Urges Tinubu to Retain Shettima as Running Mate

The North-Central All Progressives Congress Forum has advised President Bola Tinubu to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election. The group’s chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, argued that the Muslim-Muslim ticket did not negatively impact the party’s performance in the North-Central region.

The Forum’s stance contradicts warnings from the Northern Ethnic Nationality Forum, which cautioned against repeating the Muslim-Muslim ticket. However, Zazzaga emphasized that key positions in government held by Middle Belt Christians, including the APC National Chairman and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, ensure the region’s representation.

The North-Central APC Forum expressed confidence in Tinubu’s reelection, citing his achievements in office. They argued that changing the winning team would be unnecessary and that the President should focus on consolidating his accomplishments rather than altering the political structure that brought him victory in 2023.
