No Regrets: Former Minister Uju-Ken Ohanenye Speaks Out After Sack
In a recent interview, former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju-Ken Ohanenye, expressed no regrets over her actions during her tenure, despite being fired by President Bola Tinubu on October 23, alongside four other ministers ¹.
Ohanenye’s tenure was marred by controversy, including her threat to sue the United Nations for allegedly mismanaging funds meant for Nigeria. However, she remains unapologetic about her decisions, stating that she did her best as minister and has no regrets ¹.
“I have a responsibility given to me to man that place and make sure things go right. I wouldn’t have tolerated anybody trying to rubbish deceit given to me,” she said on Channels Television’s Politics Today ¹.
During her tenure, Ohanenye initiated several programs, including mobile courts and rescuing small girls hawking on the streets. Although these programs were not part of the budget, she was able to secure donations from Nigerians, raking in over N200 million ¹.
Unfortunately, her tenure was cut short, and she was sacked just two weeks after the donations were made. Ohanenye revealed that she had to ask the secretary in charge to reverse the funds, as she could no longer use them ¹.
Despite her sack, Ohanenye remains committed to serving Nigeria and contributing to its progress and prosperity ². Her unwavering dedication to her duties and her unapologetic stance on her decisions are a testament to her strength and character.
