Nigeria’s Presidency Urges Citizens to Report VIPs with Police Escorts
The Presidency has called on Nigerians to actively monitor and report any instances of VIPs using police escorts, following President Bola Tinubu’s directive to withdraw police escorts for VIPs. The President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Daniel Bwala, made the appeal during an interview on TVC on Sunday
The directive aims to rationalize the use of police resources and ensure that the force focuses on public safety rather than VIP protection. However, Bwala clarified that the withdrawal does not apply to all government officials, and some critical individuals will still have security protection provided by other agencies, such as the State Security Service (SSS) and Civil Defence
Bwala urged citizens to document any instances of VIPs using police escorts, capturing evidence through photographs or videos. This will help the government enforce the directive and ensure compliance
The directive reflects the administration’s commitment to reforming the use of police resources and promoting transparency and accountability in governance. By engaging citizens in monitoring compliance, the government can ensure that the directive is enforced effectively and that police resources are used for the benefit of all Nigerians
