Nigeria’s Justice Sector Takes a Leap Forward: Federal Ministry of Justice Adopts Digital System

The Federal Ministry of Justice has taken a significant step towards enhancing efficiency and accountability in the justice sector by adopting a digital system. The Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS) is a digital platform that enables the ministry to create, process, approve, store, and retrieve official documents electronically .

Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), launched the ECMS, emphasizing that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to building a justice sector that delivers timely and efficient outcomes to Nigerians. The launch marked the ministry’s departure from manual and unstructured information management, paving the way for a paperless environment .

The ECMS is expected to dismantle bureaucratic bottlenecks that have historically slowed the wheels of justice. By digitizing correspondence, emails, and legal documents, the ministry can now manage documents more efficiently, reducing delays and increasing productivity. This initiative aligns with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP25) and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President .

The adoption of ECMS is a significant step towards enhancing justice delivery in Nigeria. With this digital system, the ministry can now provide timely and efficient services to Nigerians, improving access to justice and promoting transparency.
