Nigeria Unveils Entrepreneurship Certification in 14 Varsities
The Federal Government has launched the Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Incubation Certification (EIBIC) programme in 14 universities, aiming to equip students with practical skills to become job creators, not job seekers.

EIBIC will be expanded to all federal universities by 2027 and federal tertiary institutions by 2028.The programme focuses on innovation, business planning, financial literacy, and venture development.
Students will receive certification in entrepreneurship alongside their academic degrees.
36,000 young entrepreneurs applied for the Student Venture Capital Grant, with 63 beneficiaries selected.
Minister of Education Maruf Alausa emphasized the need for proactive measures to address the gap between education and employability. The programme aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s economic vision to build a knowledge-driven and innovation-led economy.
EIBIC will run concurrently with academic programmes, starting from the first year.
Students will access incubation, mentorship, and funding opportunities.
Vice-chancellors are directed to fast-track programme approval by April.
How will EIBIC impact Nigeria’s youth unemployment and economic growth? Will the programme achieve its goal of producing job creators and innovators?
