Nigeria to Launch 90,000km Fibre Optic Network Nationwide
The Federal Government, under President Bola Tinubu, is set to deploy a 90,000-kilometre fibre optic network across Nigeria. Senator Shuaib Salis, Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Security, announced this development during the opening ceremony of the 2025 Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun council.
The fibre optic network will cover all states, local governments, and wards in Nigeria.
The project aims to boost digital penetration and drive economic growth.
Studies have shown that a 10% increase in fibre penetration can lead to a minimum of 2% increase in GDP growth.
