The government expressed condolences to Niger over the attack but emphasized its unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and disassociating itself from any such groups.

The accusations come amidst a complex web of relations between Nigeria, Niger, and France. Niger’s foreign minister had summoned the charge d’affaires at the Nigerian embassy, accusing Nigeria of “serving as a rear base” to “destabilize” the country ¹. Additionally, the Nigerian government has dismissed claims of French military presence in northern Nigeria allegedly aimed at destabilizing Niger, describing these accusations as baseless ².
