Nigeria and India Strengthen Ties: President Tinubu to Host PM Modi

On Sunday, November 18, 2024, President Bola Tinubu will host Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a significant State Visit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. This visit marks a historic moment, as it is the first time an Indian prime minister has visited Nigeria since Dr. Manmohan Singh’s visit in 2007, which laid the foundation for the two countries’ strategic partnership.

According to Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the visit aims to deepen the collaboration between Nigeria and India. During their discussions, the two leaders will explore ways to strengthen bilateral ties and will sign several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to foster cooperation in vital sectors such as trade, technology, and infrastructure.
