Newcastle United’s Dominant Win Over Union Saint-Gilloise

Newcastle United secured their first points in the Champions League with a convincing 4-0 victory over Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise. Anthony Gordon scored twice from the penalty spot, while Nick Woltemade and Harvey Barnes also contributed to the win.

Woltemade scored his third goal in four starts, tapping in Sandro Tonali’s shot to give Newcastle the lead in the 17th minute.
Gordon doubled Newcastle’s advantage just before half-time after Anthony Elanga was fouled by Fedde Leysen. He then scored another penalty in the 60th minute after a VAR review awarded Newcastle a second spot-kick.
Barnes sealed the win with a composed finish in the 80th minute, rounding off a well-executed counter-attack.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, highlighting their improved start to the match. “These competitions are so high and the demands are so big on us that if we’re slow starters, we could leave ourselves too much to do,” Howe said. He also praised Woltemade’s potential, stating that the young player has “done really, really well” and is eager to improve
