JAMB Conducts Promotional Exams for Civil Service Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has successfully conducted a computer-based promotional examination for 6,000 directorate cadre staff under the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC). The exam was held at various centers, including the JAMB Computer-Based Test Centre in Kogi, Bwari Area Council, and in four other countries: the UK, US, India, and Egypt.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, described the exam as a bold initiative by the FCSC, showcasing its visionary leadership. He noted that the exam’s user-friendly interface, which requires only basic knowledge of using a cell phone, made it accessible to all candidates.

Prof. Oloyede emphasized the importance of embracing technology, stating that people shouldn’t be afraid of things they don’t know. He observed that the initial apprehension among candidates gave way to smiles and confidence after they saw the instructions.

The Commissioner representing the FCT and Niger State on the FCSC, Dr. Hussaini Adamu, praised the performance of the candidates and the organization of the exam. He noted that the exercise had been excellent, with candidates preferring the computer-based exam to the traditional pen-and-paper system.

The JAMB exam is a significant step towards promoting digital literacy and modernizing the recruitment process. With about 1,500 participants in three sessions, the exercise has been deemed successful. The FCSC’s efforts to enhance the skills and competencies of its staff are commendable, and this initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the civil service.
