IPOB Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plot to Assassinate Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in DSS Custody

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has expressed serious concerns over the safety of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). According to a statement released by the group, a DSS agent allegedly attacked Kanu at the DSS headquarters with the intention of killing him.

The situation escalated when other DSS officers intervened, physically dragging their colleague out of Kanu’s cell. The officers were reportedly seen kicking Kanu. IPOB claims that this incident is part of a larger plot to assassinate Kanu while in DSS custody, potentially under the guise of a misunderstanding between Kanu and a DSS officer.

IPOB has strongly condemned the action, warning that the DSS agent will face consequences for his actions. The group is demanding that the DSS ensure Kanu’s safety while in their custody. In a statement, IPOB said, “The action of this DSS officer is unacceptable, and he will have to face the consequences of his action.” They further warned that unless the DSS is prepared for another confrontation, they should prioritize Kanu’s safety.

This development comes amid ongoing tensions between IPOB and the Nigerian government. Kanu is currently facing trial on charges of alleged terrorism. The group’s warning suggests that they are prepared for further action if necessary to protect their leader .
