Ghana to Grant Visa-Free Entry to All African Nationals: A Boost for Pan-Africanism

Ghana is set to become the fifth African country to grant visa-free access to all African passport holders, effective May 25, 2026, coinciding with Africa Day celebrations. This move reinforces Ghana’s historical role as the cradle of Pan-Africanism and aims to promote tourism, intra-African trade, and regional integration.

The new policy eliminates pre-arrival visa requirements, making it easier for Africans to travel to Ghana. The visa-free arrangement will be integrated with Ghana’s new e-visa system, launching next month, to streamline entry procedures while maintaining robust border security.

Ghana joins Benin, The Gambia, Rwanda, and Seychelles in providing visa-free entry to all African nationals. Since 2025, Ghana has negotiated 23 visa waiver agreements for its citizens, expanding travel opportunities for Ghanaian passport holders. Enhances mobility and regional integration
