Former INEC REC Demands Fair Hearing After Dismissal

Hudu Ari, the former Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Adamawa State, is speaking out against his dismissal, claiming he was never given a fair hearing. Ari was let go due to alleged electoral offenses, but he insists that he has substantial evidence to support his position ¹.

Ari revealed that he wrote multiple letters to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to share his side of the story, but they were rejected. Furthermore, the tribunal overseeing the case between Aisha Binani and Ahmadu Fintiri refused to accept his evidence.

The former REC displayed documents that he claims are authentic result sheets, along with the letters he sent to INEC. Ari’s dismissal has raised concerns about the fairness of the process, and he is demanding a chance to present his case.

In a related development, a Federal High Court in Abuja recently dismissed a suit filed by Ari seeking protection against arrest, prosecution, or detention. The court ruled that Ari’s fundamental rights were not breached, and that the media’s reporting on the case did not constitute a trial .
