FG Denies Scrapping JAMB Requirement for Admission into Tertiary Institutions
The Federal Government has categorically denied reports circulating online that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is no longer a requirement for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, described the claim as “false, baseless, and without merit,” emphasizing that JAMB remains the statutory body responsible for conducting entrance examinations and coordinating admissions.
The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding transparency, fairness, and credibility in Nigeria’s tertiary education admission system. The established admission processes through JAMB remain fully operational, and any contrary information should be disregarded.
The Minister cautioned media outlets, bloggers, and online platforms against publishing unverified information, emphasizing the need to avoid misinformation that could cause unnecessary confusion within the education sector.
Prospective students, parents, and tertiary institutions are advised to rely solely on official communication channels of the Ministry and JAMB for accurate and verified information regarding admission policies. JAMB’s role in the admission process remains central and indispensable, and any claims suggesting otherwise are entirely false .
