FCTA to Conduct Promotion Exams for 8,000 Staff

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is set to conduct Computer-Based Test (CBT) promotion examinations for 8,000 staff members across 165 different cadres. The exams, which will be held from November 25 to November 29, 2025, are part of the FCTA’s efforts to promote staff and clear backlog of promotion arrears

The FCTA had previously conducted a CBT promotion examination on August 12, 2025, which resulted in the promotion of 49 deputy directors to the rank of director. The current examination is expected to benefit staff across all cadres, with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, approving the request for the swift conclusion of the 2024 promotion cycle “as part of staff motivation”

The FCT Civil Service Commission Chairman, Emeka Ezeh, explained that the promotion exercise will be conducted using the CBT platform, which is part of the administration’s efforts to deepen digitalization in its operations. “The promotion that will be conducted will be using the Computer-Based Test,” he said

The promotion exercise is expected to boost staff morale and motivation, as well as enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the FCTA. The FCT Minister’s approval of the promotion exercise is a welcome development for staff members who have been waiting for their promotions

The FCTA’s decision to conduct promotion exams for 8,000 staff members is a significant step towards promoting staff welfare and enhancing the administration’s efficiency. The use of CBT platform is also a welcome development, as it will ensure transparency and fairness in the promotion process
