Debunking the Myth: No Nationwide School Closure in Nigeria

A viral report circulating on social media has sparked widespread concern among parents and students, claiming that the Federal Government of Nigeria has ordered the nationwide closure of schools. However, the Federal Ministry of Education has swiftly denied the allegations, labeling the report as “false and misleading”.

In a statement released on Saturday, November 22, the ministry clarified that it did not issue any circular or directive ordering the closure of schools across the country. The ministry’s spokesperson, Folasade Boriowo, urged the public to rely solely on verified information from official channels, cautioning against the spread of misinformation.

This development comes amidst growing concerns over the recent abductions of pupils in some parts of the country. While the safety of students is a top priority, there is currently no directive from the Federal Ministry of Education to close schools nationwide.
